Review of the year broadcast annually on ICI Radio-Canada Tele on New Year’s Eve. This year, the opening song revolved around the theme of inflation, a subject that caught our collective attention the most in 2022. Our mandate was to design an original music video based on the song composed by comedian Pierre-Yves Roy Desmarais. The Eltoro team did the scenography, created the 3D sets, compositing, special effects, motion design as well as the graphic identity of the 2022 edition.

Infoman is a satirical news show that takes an irreverent look at today’s big stories. The host Jean-René Dufort, along with his faithful co-hosts Chantal Lamarre and MC Gilles, provides coverage on the personalities and subjects of the hour in a way that’s both informative and entertaining.
Our goal was to update the graphics and motion design for its 23rd season. We wanted to highlight the raw, rebellious and cutting journalistic style of Jean-rené Dufort, aka “Infoman”, the hero of information. We mixed superhero comics with the punk rock design aesthetics of the 80s to arrive at a colorful three-dimensional scrapbook effect, integrating paper tears, texture and newspaper clippings. The title sequence follows Infoman’s legendary microphone as it rockets around the globe, interrupting major figures in local and international news. Vlodimir Zelinski, Joe Biden, Justin Trudeau, Pope Francis, Kim Jong-un as well as the Montreal and Quebec mayors are all featured. It was accomplished with a mix of stock footage, green screens, artwork, and 3D assets, all stitched together in After Effects.

Two cities, two populations, two teams. For more than 15 years, the rivalry between the Canadiens and the Nordiques has fiercely divided the province. Like the feuds that have always opposed the two cities, it has quickly become the most important sports rivalry in North America. “Nordic Canadians: The Rivalry” recounts this blessed time when Quebec had a hockey club and Montreal was still able to win the Stanley Cup.

Télé-Québec gave us the mandate to create a new series of idents for the presentation of their Cinema and Documentary content. The purpose of these short openings is to enrich the new brand identity developed by Télé-Québec.
We opted for a minimalist, dynamic aesthetic. The challenge was to represent, simply and with clear graphic codes, each category of the Cinema and Documentary sections. It was essential that we gave sound design an important place in order to quickly differentiate each of the categories. The goal was to create strong visual concepts to guide and entertain viewers while being consistent with the visual identity of the channel.

This show is broadcast on Radio-Canada on New Year’s Eve. This year’s edition shattered the record for the most watched show in Quebec history! More than 3.8 million people, or nearly 50% of the Quebec population, have watched this holiday season tradition. Our mandate was to design the visual identity of the show and to create the entire environment around the Coronavirus which was the undisputed star of 2020.
